Boy if I hate any kind of shopping its vacuum shopping. With hundreds on the market, it makes it very time consuming researching, reading reviews and so forth to find the right one. I mean how do you know from reviews if its good when most say its great but then others say otherwise? Do I buy one and hope it works as instructed or reviewed? My family and I were in the market for a new vacuum. Previously we have had two Shark Cordless vacuums. While they weren’t the most expensive ones they offer, they did their job pretty good and lasted a good 5 years (love their warranty). One of the major dilemmas of our prior vacuum, is the unavoidable tangle wrap that occurs in the brush roller. For those with women and dogs in the house, this should be all to familiar. If not, feast your eyes on the most common example below.

This is probably the grossest part of cleaning a vacuum.

I knew from the start that my next vacuum had to have a better solution at this then cutting it out once a week. Some of my friends were happy with their robot vacuums, so I started researching them. While the popular ones such as Roomba and iRobot were praised as good choices, I felt they would still have the same issue dealing with pet hair. While the thought of having a robot vacuum in our house cleaning whenever was tempting, I couldn’t find one that would be up to the task we needed currently.

So after countless hours, many trips to the store, I finally decided on the next vacuum. Enter the Shark Vertex DuoClean. Here is what made me go for this particular vacuum.

  • DuoClean Powerfins (see to the right)
  • Self-Cleaning Brushroll (see below)
  • Flexible to get under furniture with its design
  • Excellent runtime
  • Cordless option

While this particular model goes for around $399, I was able to find one at my local Walmart for $329.00. While that may seem like a lot of money, with 4 kids and dog, a good vacuum is an investment to our daily cleaning.

Conclusion

While this vacuum may cost a bit for an average family, if you honestly hate the tangle wrap caused by pet and long hair, this vacuum will be your saving grace and you can say goodbye to cutting it out of the roller. The vacuum’s duo clean brush roller also sucks in everything in its passing. We have had this vacuum for about 2 months now and has been one of the best ones we have. I honestly have no con’s for this vacuum at the moment as it has been just as advertised. If purchasing directly from Shark, they give you 60 days money back if you are not happy which is plenty of time to test it out. If your an Amazon member (like me), they currently have it for $349.99 new or $249.99 under their “renewed” program. As you know with Amazon, if your not happy with it, you can always return it for full refund as well.
